The poem I chose did not have a title. I chose it because it’s about learning to deal with the pain and not to let it define you. Visually I used a glass pattern to represent the shattering of emotions. They are not separated but connected to show that even though there is pain and you feel broken you are still you. I chose the colors to represent the different emotions. The red represents anger, the blue represents sadness and the yellows represent happiness.
The elements and principles I used were color and line. I used the darker to lighter colors on the top and bottom to create horizontal movement. Then I used some streaking to create vertical movement. This also helps with the horizontal movement. I then added a focal point, which is my friend, colored yellow.
"All these poems about people leaving and not one about how I convinced myself to stay. I know what you want to hear- that I slayed the dragon and swallowed my demons and laughed in the face of my nightmares and lived happily ever after- but the truth is much more ordinary. The truth is I breathe through the pain even on days it whistles between my ribs on every inhale and every exhale and I celebrate like hell on the days it doesn't make a sound"
